Large-Scale Video Installation

Drone videography for a 70-foot LED wall in Boston’s Seaport District

OBJECTIVE: This luxury residential building in Boston’s Seaport District held an open call for video content for their 70-by-5-foot LED wall which sits at the building’s entrance bay.

Using a drone, I captured long, sweeping pans of the New England landscape. The constraint of editing within the extreme dimensions of 14:1 was a very fun challenge. My submission was selected to play on loop twice a day.

Stills

I found the building’s major selling point to be the luxury of leisure and serenity with heavy emphasis on their meditation and yoga classes, fitness amenities, and spa services. In a neighborhood with mostly man-made spaces and construction sites seemingly everywhere, I was inspired by the serenity found in nature when one has the luxury of being able to travel to ‘escape the city’.

Mockup of the space

Noticing that the LED wall served as a sort of street level billboard to passersby, I saw to opportunity for this video to signal to potential residents the specific brand of luxury lifestyle that this building was trying to sell.
